People experimented a lot and came up with metallic moulds, known as dies, for casting puposes. We know of those moulds for sword handles, axe blades or arrow-heads. Whether these moulds were actually used for bronze casting, or rather for makig wax models is currently somewhat under discussion. We know from experiments: you can easily produce castings of reasonable quality in bronze moulds. Archaeological bronze moulds have yet to be examined archaeometrically to verify they were used for bronze casting.
